BUS SERVICES

 

Stagecoach runs the service Pluto P1 between Northampton and Bedford with bus stops on the Bedford Road, and York’s runs to Northampton with bus stops on the Billing Road.

JASON (Journeys Around SOuth Northants) Travel for All

 

This is a community transport service, funded by Northamptonshire County Council and South Northants Council which can be used by ALL residents in South Northants.  JASON provides a service to any members of the community who, for various reasons, have difficulties with, or are unable to use public transport.  There is an annual registration fee (currently £15) and a charge per mile.

Free Bus Travel Scheme

This scheme is open to everyone over the age of 60 and people with a disability.  Free travel is available between 9.30am and 11pm, Mondays to Fridays, and all day Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays, across the whole of South Northamptonshire.  Within these times bus pass holders are also able to travel for free to Northampton, Daventry and Wellingborough and across the county boundary to Oxford, Banbury and Milton Keynes. They can travel to anywhere else in Northamptonshire, at any time, for £1 per bus journey. If you change buses you will need to pay £1 per bus.  If you travel outside these times you will pay the normal fare.

The free pass can also be used on the JASON minibus service.

VOLUNTEER CAR SCHEME

 

Earls Barton Volunteer Car Scheme supports patients who have no other means of transport, in keeping appointments at Denton Surgery or at hospital. 

 

The scheme is also always looking for additional volunteer drivers.

N.O.W. (NORTHAMPTONSHIRE ON WHEELS)

 

This scheme is aimed at young people between the ages of 16 and 25 who live in, or need to get to, a rural location.  N.O.W. assists young people to access education, training or employment where they would otherwise struggle without their own transport.

 

Examples of help are:

  • Guidance on current community and transport provision
  • Personalised travel plans
  • Small loans to assist towards the costs of first months bus fares
  • Loan of a moped with safety equipment and training for approximately 6 months
